White Law PLLC debuted its “Pay It Forward” scholarship with plans to celebrate exceptional students who might otherwise not have the chance to pursue a higher education. Now, the firm can uplift Adrian del Rio, a law student at Florida International University College of Law.
The team found del Rio’s commitment to the study of business law moving, particularly given del Rio’s plans to represent small business owners. It’s with admiration of that goal in mind that the team awards del Rio $2,500 to apply toward his continued education.
Finding Legal Inspiration at an Early Age
The “Pay it Forward” scholarship asks students to think critically about why they’re pursuing a degree and what they want to do once they graduate. Del Rio answers this question by emphasizing an interest he forged at a young age. He describes a class field trip to a Miami courthouse, saying:
“We listened to several cases, but one stood out for me. In a civil case, the plaintiff, a customer, sued a small business for alleged safety violations. The chattering of the business owner’s teeth and the sweat dripping from his forehead made me envision my father in his place. Closing my eyes, I reflected on [his] powerlessness….”
It was at this moment, del Rio says, that he knew he wanted to craft a career that allowed him to provide legal services to Miami’s small business owners.
Your Fight Is Our Fight
Building a Career in Law and Business
Del Rio has since allowed his dual interests in business and law to forge his academic career. Now a student at Florida International University College of Law, he plans to join the Mock Trial Team to hone his courtroom presentations. He also hopes to intern with business-oriented firms throughout Miami to familiarize himself with the local legal community.
However, the Florida Bar weighs most heavily on del Rio’s mind. He is set to take the Bar Exam after his graduation in 2026. This two-day exam will determine whether or not del Rio has the chance to put his dreams into action. Del Rio intends to spend his time before the Bar Exam supplementing his legal knowledge with an independent study of the exam’s 23 subjects.
Celebrating Parental Support
Where does this drive and inspiration come from? Del Rio says that his parents are his primary source of inspiration. In creating his essay, he “[reflected] on what my parents have done for me, mainly providing educational support and encouraging my passion to get into law.”
Del Rio wants to repay his parents for their contributions to his development over the years. He specifically says that their support with school subjects and communication has made it possible for him to break into the legal industry.
We know how to get our clients the results they need in the toughest legal arenas.
Mapping Out a Plan for the Future
Once he passes the Bar Exam and kicks off his career, del Rio intends to balance his day-to-day work with pro bono representation. He wants to offer representation to small business owners in need of support, with the goal of helping businesses navigate complicated financial and legal straits.
Ideally, del Rio says, he would create his own firm that would prioritize outreach to local businesses in need. He looks forward to the day he can approve his own caseload.
You will always work directly with your attorney throughout your case.
